Putting It All Together: Creating a ChatGPT Caption Step-by-Step
To demonstrate how this works in practice, I walk you through creating a caption as an example in my business with the Social Success Planner and ChatGPT. Here’s a video tutorial of my planning process and the exectution in ChatGPT. Click to watch.
How to Prompt ChatGPT for Captions That Sound Like You
With your detailed post plan ready, you’re now primed to use ChatGPT. My approach is to give ChatGPT a clear, structured prompt that includes all the relevant details from the planner. For example, she types:
Act as a social media manager and copywriter and create a caption for an Instagram post using the following information: [paste post details here from Your Notes In the Social Success Planner].
After submitting the prompt, ChatGPT generates a caption draft that incorporates the key information, including the example content idea and the call to action.
For this to work, even with all the details you've provided, ChatGPT needs to understand your Brand Voice. If you don't have an offical Brand Voice Guide, or you've never heard the term before, I recommend checking out this blog post and tutorial. ChatGPT can help you create your brand voice as well!
Editing and Personalizing Your ChatGPT Captions
While ChatGPT does most of the heavy lifting, I cannot emphasizes enough the importance of adding your personal touches to each post before you hit publish! Tweaking a generated caption to better match your brand voice helps your caption aviod sounding too mechanical, promotional and AI generated.
I personally recommend editing yourself, but if can be helpfukl to also prompt ChatGPT further to make adjustments such as removing emojis or changing tone, so it learns to write more like you. However, I usually still believe that a quick manual edit often does the trick to keep my captions authentic.
Why This Process Works: Faster, Authentic, and Goal-Oriented Content
By combining the Social Success Planner’s detailed post planning with ChatGPT’s writing capabilities, you get a workflow that:
Saves you time by cutting down on brainstorming and writing from scratch
Ensures your captions align with your business goals
Keeps your social media content sounding like you, not a generic AI
Makes content creation less overwhelming and more consistent by leveraging AI tools
This method is especially helpful for busy entrepreneurs who want practical, easy-to-implement marketing strategies that actually convert.
