Is Your Business Ready to Thrive This Summer?

We’re halfway through the year—how’s your business holding up?

You know that moment when Netflix pauses your binge and asks, “Are you still watching?” Of course you are… but maybe it’s also time to check in with your business. Just like stepping on a scale after one healthy meal doesn’t show results, running a business requires consistent check-ins—not just big wins—to track real growth.

Summer isn’t just about vacations and sunshine (though we love those too)—it’s a golden opportunity to revisit your goals, tweak your content strategy, and make sure your business is still aligned with where you want it to go. If Q1 was about setting goals and Q2 was about grinding, Q3 is your moment to recalibrate and work smarter.

This blog is your Summer Survival Kit: a six-part checklist blending summer marketing ideas, strategic growth, and self-care—because thriving in business shouldn’t mean burning out.

If we haven't met yet, I’m Brittany, an online marketing strategist for female entrepreneurs. I teach women how to make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality through smart, actionable marketing strategies that get them seen, loved, and paid. Whether you’re eager to DIY your way to success or hire professionals to help you along the way–my goal is to make sure you walk away with the clarity you need to see the results you desire and build a life you love.

Let’s dive into how to make this summer the one where you don’t just survive—you grow your business with purpose.

6 Step Summer To-Do List for you to Grow Your Business (Summer Marketing & More!)

Here's your 6-step summer survival guide for entrepreneurs. Spoiler alert! You'll have a blast with #6.

1. Review Your Business Plan

You started the year with big goals and a business plan—now’s the time to check if you're actually on track or if it's time for a pivot. Think of it like checking your GPS mid-road trip: are you still heading where you want to go, or has the route changed?

Dust off that business plan you created back in January (you know, the one you poured your heart into) and ask:

  • Are your offers still aligned with your current goals?

  • Is your content strategy supporting those goals?

  • Do your financial and marketing plans need an update?

Remember, it’s okay if things have shifted. Flexibility is part of the growth process. This check-in isn’t about judging progress—it’s about creating clarity moving forward.

2. Mid-Year Money Check

Let’s be real—are you giving your finances the “Seen but Ignored” treatment? 👀 No judgment, but your business strategy isn’t complete without a solid understanding of your money flow.

This summer, carve out time to:

  • Check your cash flow: Are you spending more than you're bringing in?

  • Review revenue streams: Which products or services are bringing in the most profit?

  • Evaluate your expenses: What’s draining your budget without delivering results?

Pinpoint the offers that not only sell but also bring you joy—and double down on them.

This is also the perfect time to ask: Should I outsource this? If your books make you sweat more than the July sun, consider hiring a bookkeeper or using financial planning tools. You’ll gain clarity and free up headspace for growth.

3. Refresh Your Website & Social Meida Profiles

Summer’s not just for poolside lounging—it’s also prime time for a digital glow-up. Think of it like swapping your cozy winter wardrobe for something fresh and vibrant.

Start with the basics:

  • Update your bios across all platforms—what you offer, who you help, and how.

  • Swap out headshots with recent, high-quality photos.

  • Revisit your key messaging to reflect where your business is now, not where it was last January.

Your Instagram captions, highlights, and pinned posts should feel aligned with your current brand voice and offers. Even subtle changes—like new fonts or color palettes—can make your content feel fresh again.

This simple revamp makes your summer social media ideas more cohesive, your content creation ideas more intentional, and your audience experience smoother across every touchpoint.

Pro Tip: Don’t forget your businesses About Page! Your About Page is one of your highest visited pages and often the last one you think to update.

P.S. I may not be the Fab Five but my social media glow-up skills are top-notch so let the summer makeover begin!

4. Run Summer-Themed Marketing Campaigns

If you want to keep your audience engaged while you sip a cold drink on the patio—this is your move.

Summer is packed with opportunities to run seasonal promotions, sales, or product spotlights that tie into what your audience is already thinking about. Whether it’s a summer bundle, flash sale, or limited-time service, give it a sunny twist.

Need inspiration? Use a June, July, or August content calendar to plan around trending holidays like:

  • International Friendship Day

  • Ice Cream Month

  • National Relaxation Day …and dozens more that make your brand relatable.

Boost your campaign by layering in:

  • Summer hashtags (#SummerVibes, #HotBizTips)

  • Catchy seasonal slogans

  • Email campaigns that remind your audience what they’ll gain

  • Social media Reels that show off your offer in action

  • Cross-promotion with other small biz owners to expand your reach

Lean on your content strategy and batch content in advance. And remember—summer marketing campaigns should feel fun and effortless, not frantic.

5. Join Networking Events & Conferences

Summer is more than a sales season—it’s prime time for visibility and connection.

Whether you’re showing up at a local market, attending a mastermind, or joining a virtual summit, networking in summer naturally feels easier. The energy is lighter, people are more social, and opportunities flow when you put yourself in the room.

This aligns beautifully with cyclical awareness for female entrepreneurs. The outward, energized nature of summer mirrors the ovulatory phase of the female cycle—aka, your most magnetic, outgoing time. Use that energy to:

  • Join Facebook or LinkedIn groups relevant to your industry.

  • Attend live conferences or workshops.

  • Schedule coffee chats or collaboration calls with like-minded business owners.

Even one new connection could spark a marketing strategy shift, client referral, or collaborative content opportunity.

So put yourself out there—you don’t have to go all-in, but saying yes to one connection a week could completely shift your business growth this season.

6. Prioritize Summer Self-Care

Burnout doesn’t take a vacation—but you should.

As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to stay “on” 24/7. But this season is a perfect time for a summer reset—to rest, reset your mindset, and reconnect with why you started your business in the first place.

Self-care doesn’t mean stepping away from your business entirely. It means intentionally creating space to breathe. A few ways to recharge without guilt:

  • Use content planning tools to schedule posts ahead of time.

  • Automate your email sequences so your audience stays nurtured.

  • Block off days in your calendar for fun—not just productivity.

Remember: delegation is self-care, too. Outsourcing what drains you (even for a month) can give you the energy to refocus on what really matters.

So go ahead—take that beach day, read the book on your nightstand, or simply enjoy a phone-free evening. Your business needs you to be well just as much as it needs your strategy.

7. BONUS: Summer Marketing Add-Ons

Once your core business strategy is in place, summer is the perfect time to experiment with light, fun marketing add-ons that boost visibility and engagement.

Here are a few ways to sprinkle some creativity into your summer marketing mix:

  • Create a shareable summer playlist that reflects your brand vibes—great for Stories or newsletter content.

  • Write a summer-themed blog post to boost SEO and align with what your audience is searching for now.

  • Run a giveaway or contest—tie it to a national holiday (like International Friendship Day) or just for fun.

  • Update your display/paid ads or sales pages with seasonal visuals that stand out and feel timely.

Don't forget to repurpose with intention, not all summer content needs to be 'new'.

  • Turn July or August blog posts into carousel posts or Stories.

  • Pull snippets from podcast episodes for Instagram Reels.

  • Convert customer testimonials into short-form video content.

  • Repost high performing content from Q1 and Q2

Small seasonal touches like these keep your marketing fresh without the pressure of a full campaign overhaul.

Don’t Just Survive—Thrive This Summer

Summer is more than a time to pause—it's a chance to refresh, realign, and refocus your business strategy. If you're feeling stuck in survival mode, now’s the time to shift into growth.

Use this season as your strategic reset. Revisit your goals, update your brand’s presence, review your finances, and check in with your marketing efforts. Maybe you finally batch that content you’ve been meaning to, refresh your website, or create space to actually rest and reconnect with why you started this journey in the first place.

You don’t need to overhaul your business overnight. Small, intentional actions—like reviewing your summer marketing plan or planning Instagram posts using a content calendar—can reignite momentum and help you show up consistently without burning out.

If you’re ready to make that shift but want guidance, the Social Success Planner or a quick strategy call could be the next step. Let’s make this summer your most intentional and impactful one yet.
